u15s glory in South London

The ReachOut FC u15s cruised to their first silverware two weeks ago (Sunday 23rd May 2010), beating Meridian JFC in the Selkent Blue Shield final. In a confident win, played at Meridian’s home ground, the ReachOut FC team looked assured in possession and solid at the back. ReachOut FC opened the scoring early in the second half with a classy team goal, finished well by Marvin Birch, and doubled their lead shortly after through a left foot thunderbolt from Birch again to secure his brace. Charles Alibi added a third, stroking home a through ball before Meridian scored a late consolation goal.

Our thanks to Michael Bakare, Sean & Tolu Kayode & the Selkent League for all their hard work this season and we look forward to the London Cup next year!

ReachOut FC u12A win first trophy!

Boys from the ReachOut FC u12A team earnt their first trophy earlier today winning the annual Islington “Kick It Out” Cup with a 1-0 win against Copenhagen Youth Project at Market Road.

ReachOut FC progressed from a tough group with two wins and one loss, courtesy of goals from captain, Asha Cumberbatch, and new striker Nazim Saridas, before knocking out Canonbury in the semi-finals.  With several older u13s players playing in the same tournament, ReachOut FC competed well, with Blair Massamba and Akile Tyshon Lee-Walton showing good determination and composure in particular.

Ajay Singh and Ramone Gentle had to be at their best to foil Copenhagen’s valiant efforts in a tense final, with Singh making some huge tackles and a flying save from Goalkeeper of the Tournament Gentle keeping Copenhagen at bay.   With less than two minutes to play Owura Osei-Asibeh scored the winning goal after good work from Cumberbatch, tucking home a loose ball after the keeper parried Singh’s shot.  In the dying seconds, heriocs from Singh at the back, ably supported by the excellent Gencal Sinankili, foiled the outstanding Copenhagen strikers and ReachOut FC held firm to secure their first taste of silverware!

Pictures to follow….
